Promenade Center adding new tenants to shop mix
Childress Klein Properties Inc. has added five tenants for its high-profile retail center called The Promenade in South Charlotte.
Now that the 435,000 square-foot center at Interstate 485 and Providence Road is five years old, some tenant turnover is expected, says David Haggart, Childress Klein retail partner.
“We’re replacing some of the weaker tenants that did not survive,” he says. “But we have been fortunate overall with a strong tenant mix and high-quality merchants.”
Women’s casual apparel store B Natural is moving back to south Charlotte after a five-year hiatus.
Owner Betsy Matthews opened B Natural 14 years ago in the Arboretum. In 2002, she moved the store to Park Road Shopping Center.
Prio to running B Natural, Matthews bought a Chico’s franchise, which at that time was a cotton-clothing store. It was the original Chico’s store in Southpark mall.
After spending three years as a Chico’s franchisee, she decided ti branch out with a stire that reflected her own personal flair.
Matthews’ new store measures 1,474 square-feet and is adjacent to Bele Ville. She plans to open in mid-January.
Other new tenants joining The Promenade include:
Cutie Pies, a startup children;s cothing store that will take 1,007 square -feet. The store, owned by Michael and Tanner Jackson, will open in early February next to Ann Taylor and Starbucks.
Avalon Spa and Nail, a nail salon that offers manicures, perdicures, facials, and waxing. It is taking 1,400 square-feet and will open in first quarter.
Robeks fruit smoothies, a Los Angeles-based company that opened its first Charlotte location this week in 1,187 square-feet.
Childress Klein brokers James Ferguson and Chris Vasbinder represented the landlord on the lease deals.
“It’s hard to believe that The Promenade is five years old,” Haggart says.
The retail mega-center opened in 2001 with anchor The Home Depot, and the first waveof tenants opened in late 2002.
